My Al Kebra Sojourn - Day 1

During my first day in Driving school, I had my green class card record with me wherein the no of days are noted down. I went to the back of the canteen where I was looking for my instructor Car#69...His name is Robert...or King Robert(KR) should I say...or normally they call the teacher...master...but I'd prefer King Robert...and my instructor knows why...We got to introduce our selves and inside I go to car#69...It was a stick shift manual car...and I could just imagine how eons ago I drove one...and I could not even remember the last time I set hands on such a car...well...for the first lesson KR taught the basics...

1) Adjust your seat
2) adjust your mirror, left, center, side
3) seat belts
4) the gears
5) the clutch (ABC)
6) the brakes
7)accelerator

Then off we go driving around the school's opal shape roadway...and I was very ...very rusty...indeeed...I was having so much difficulty...the car conked out on me not once but 4 times on the road...I totally sucked...and after one hour of sucking very bad...I was really depressed...how could I passed this darn course when I really did very poorly...anyway my instructor (KR) was by my side...trying to encourage me...although the best I could do was 2nd gear...shucks...after seeing me do so bad...my instructor told me and suggested...why don't you change to automatic??? and I thought that it was not possible its only for women drivers because all I heard around was that for male drivers the test would be in manual stick shift cars only...but he told me that's not true...now the traffic department allows male drivers to go automatic...which means I don't have to get the hang of the "clutch thing" although I know I would eventually learn but I would take more time...and another thing most cars here in Qatar are automatic so why go hard on yourself when you can go automatic???yes...this is good for me...so after my class I went back to the office and inquired how to change my training papers from manual to automatic...phew...I was totally a mess with this stick shift thing....
