My Job and advocacy

The human resources field demands a broad range of key competencies and skills. First and foremost of these skills is in communication. Human resources managers whether in the specialized fields of recruitment. training and labor relations must be able to speak and write effectively. I do have the skills necessary in making excellent written and verbal communication which is required in handling day to day office administration works wherein proficiency in developing written policies and procedures are needed. To be able to effectively communicate such policies and procedures to the employees of the company is also a must have competency.

Another set of key competencies which I believe I also have, that is also important for a Human resource manager to have are very good analytical and critical thinking skills coupled with very good planning and administrative skills and a strong leadership quality. Such qualities can help me better understand the organization and the growing diversity of its workforce. Such skills are needed in order for the H.R. manager to be able to successfully work with or supervise people with various cultural backgrounds, levels of education, and experience.

The following key competencies in negotiation, persuasiveness, perseverance, patience and determination are needed to be able to cope with conflicting points of view, function under pressure, and demonstrate discretion, sincerity, integrity, foster cooperation, fair-mindedness, and a congenial personality.

I believe that my long exposure in the human resources field and previous work experience on the job is also an asset. Human resources development requires the ability to have people management skills to work with individuals as well as to have a commitment to the attainment of organizational goals.

Another key competency is to be proficient in the use of computers and softwares through the implementation of Human Resources Information systems and basic use of commom programs such as microsoft office.

To have the adaptability and flexibility to juggle these tasks and, increasingly, consult top executives regarding strategic planning. I can move from administrative and support behind-the-scenes staff work to leading the company in suggesting and changing policies.

What I like best in the job of a human resources manager is that one is in the forefront of the dynamic and intricate field of people management. One has to become a catalyst of development and change in order to provide this link or conduit between management and its workforce through the performance of various administrative functions of an organization, such as handling employee benefits questions or recruiting, interviewing, training, and hiring new personnel in accordance with policies and requirements that have been established in conjunction with top management.

A major part of your duties is in handling day to day office administration works wherein proficiency in developing written policies and procedures are needed and to effectively communicate such policies and procedures to the employees of the company.
